living prophet essay (draft 1)

In some ways, Derrick Jensen is a living prophet. Although I doubt that he would consider himself a living prophet, he has this certain outlook on life that differs from most others. The great thing about his outlook is that he finds the truth that is hidden beneath all the lies. Things that “others” try to distract us from, Derrick Jensen brings it to our attention. In the end it’s the audiences option to believe and try to do something about it. Throughout his book, the culture of Make Believe, he explores cases of racism, hate crimes, prostitution (to name a few) and tries to understand the different aspects of the ideas. He tries to show how the different ideas string together. In order to show how they align, he must first explore the ideas separately and in doing so realizes that the strings get more tangled.
